Welcome To My Camaro page
I first got my 1976 camaro last year for my 16th birthday and ever since then, I have been constantly working on her. I have done alot of cosmetic work on the interior but unfortunalty I don't have any pictures to show for it. I'll try to get some uploaded soon.
Backround
When I got my car last year, it constanly smelled of gas fumes from being poorly tuned by the former owner. The first time out at the track it pulled a best run of 15.8@90MPH with most of the mods that I have listed. Not what i was expecting. I took it home and went to work. I replaced the woreout distributer, nearly burnt through spark plugs wires and plugs. Then I changed out the unknown cam for a comp 280H and added a double roller for more timing accuracy. With some changes in float level, idle mixture, and setting timing to 10* intial, I went to the track to see how much I had improved my 440 yard dash. At the end of the night I had a best time of 14.9@93. Still not what I was looking for. Took it home again and ran a compression test on all the cylinders. All were around 155psi except for one. It was only at 85psi! I pulled the intake and disscovered a collapsed lifter and flattened cam lobe. Not what I wanted to find, but at least I had found another way to bring my 1/4 mile time down.
